Epson Expression Home XP-202 Printer Review
Epson Express Home XP-202 Printer

Occupying a small desk footprint ( 390 x 300 x 145 mm (Width x Depth x Height)), the new Expression Home XP-202 is the latest small-in-one printer from Epson which offers a budget scanning, printing, and copying solution for home users.

This model comes with the increasingly important added benefit of being both Wireless and smart phone ready. The automatic Wireless set up (Windows 8, 7, Win Vista, Mac OS) means that you do not need to know your settings. The machine will scan the local area for a WiFi connection. Windows XP users will require a USB cable for the initial set-up.

This small box weighing 4.1KG contains a cut down specification. Missing from the more expensive XP-405 model is a colour LCD screen, memory card ports, and higher quality printing and scanning.

The latest range of Epson budget inkjet printers use the Daisy 18 Series of printer inks. However the Epson Expression Home XP-202 comes with a set of starter cartridges T1281/T1282/T1283/T1284? Epson advertise that you will need to buy quick drying and fade resistant Daisy 18 ink cartridges for this machine, so maybe T1281-4 series inks only work for the first initial set-up? The replacement costs for the lower capacity Daisy 18 cartridges are between £7 and £10 each. XL versions are also available but more expensive. Compatible and refillable replacements are not yet available.

If you are a modest printer user looking for a small multi-function inkjet machine for your home then the Epson Express Home XP-202 could satisfy your needs and requirements. However if you require a colour screen and memory card ports then buy the XP-405 model instead. This is a budget printer with a budget printing and scanning performance. OK for printing letters and receipts but limited in detail.
