Canon Pixma MX885 All-in-One Printer Review
Canon Pixma MX885 Review

The visually stunning Canon Pixma MX885 AIO printer offers style with functionality. You can print, can, copy, fax with this machine via either wi-fi, ethernet, or usb connections.

The front angled facia enables you to control the printer using the extensive surounding control pane which contains the large 7.5cm colour screen. The illuminated display makes operation of the printer very user friendly.

Up to 9600dpi print quality can be achieved using Canon's FINE technology of a minimum of 1pl in the ink droplets. Five ink tanks are used which slot into the print head (supplied in box foil sealed). They include a large black PGI-525BK pigment based black cartridge for text printing, and a smaller dye based black CLI-526BK for photographs. The cyan CLI-526C, magenta CLI-526M, and yellow CLI-526Y are also dye based inks.

Designed mostly for use in a small office, the Canon Pixma MX885 allows you to automatically fax, copy, and scan up to 35 double-sided documents with the duplex automatic document feeder (ADF). Scans can be printed, emailed, or stored as a PDF file.

If you do not require a fax facility or document handling capabilities then we would recommend the cheaper Canon MG6150 printer that offers simillar print quality and speeds. Additionally if you are able to compromise on photographic print quality then some Brother models offer better value. The MX885 however offers an ideal solution to some small office requirements with low running costs if using compatible or refillable ink cartridges.
