Brother MFC 5895CW Printer Review As Brother release new printer models, older ones due to be discontinued have been discounted. For example the Brother MFC 5895CW A3 multi-function printer is now available for under £100! It is quite simply amazing the amount of features on offer for such a low purchase price compared to years gone by. To get an A3 capable printer; albeit with an A4 (not A3) scanner for less than a Ton is a bargain providing you need the A3 printing facility of course. In addition this large Brother machine would fit nicely into a small office with network connectivity using an Ethernet cable connection, high speed WiFi with security, and fast USB 2.0. Even though Faxing is becoming a thing of the past, during the course of the year we generally need to send the occasional facsimile. The MFC5895 has a high speed fax facility. The MFC5895CW also comes complete with a top loading 50 sheet automatic document feeder. A useful feature for small businesses that need to scan or copy multiple documents. On the front fascia is a flip up wide angle colour screen (not touch screen) where you can view photographs and menu options. To the left and right are function buttons and a numerical keypad. Just below all of these are the memory card slots for a variety of formats. The Brother MFC5895CW A3 printer uses 4 separate ink cartridges (LC1100BK or High Yield LC1100HYBK Black, LC1100C or HYC Cyan, LC1100M or HYM Magenta, and LC1100Y or HYY Yellow). LC1100 Compatible Large refillable cartridges and Small refillable cartriudges are available which will save a lot of money. If you do not like refilling then ordinary LC1100 Compatible Cartridges are also cheap to buy and contain a decent amount of ink. The downside to A3 machines is that they occupy a larger desk footprint. This one measures 485 x 408 mm and 242 mm tall. Not a problem if you have additional office space but not ideal for a small desk at home. The good news is that Brother are already listing a Windows 8 (32bit and 64bit) driver for this printer at their website... Windows 7 and 8 Brother MFC-5895CW printer driver. Their is also the Brother iPrint & Scan app for use with mobile devices such as Apple Iphone / Ipad / Ipod / Android etc. If you have a small office and require an economical printer, then look no further. The MFC-5895CW ticks all the boxes except for offering A3 scanning. Inks are cheap, the initial purchase price is cheap, and the overall performance is more than acceptable.
